Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football and volunteering for the community. Selmon is the son of Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Selmon, who brought him up on their farm in Eufala. In football, he played with his three brothers in Oklahoma. All three brothers were All-Americans. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the first-teamers for a single season. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman in the nation. Over the course of his three years as the starting line-up Oklahoma recorded a record of 32-1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. In 1975, he received his third scholarship. He was named the National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout college. In Tampa where he played, he joined the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. Additionally, he started a career in the field of business. He began his career in 1988. started working as an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed with the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and also the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 The Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of the most outstanding American young males. When he was a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 lbs. He played for his school's team in the year 1975. He joined University of South Florida in 1993 as the assistant director of sports. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. The GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, and then the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 presented its Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
